Webinars for Wise Nonprofits: Weathering Financial Storms: Navigating and Preparing for Financial Hardship
As public and private funding for nonprofit organizations is reduced, many nonprofits are struggling with an unprecedented demand for services amidst a shifting financial landscape. In order to continue to deliver vital services, organizations are considering reducing their workforce, searching for alternative sources of revenue, and weighing strategic alliances. Each of these options raises significant legal issues for the organization. This webinar will address key legal challenges facing nonprofits in the current economic environment, including employment laws affecting staff reductions; alternative sources of revenue generation, such as subletting and desk licenses; mergers and strategic alliances; bankruptcy; and debt restructuring. Finally, it will outline corporate dissolution as a last resort. It is designed for members of nonprofit Boards of Directors and nonprofit managers.
Learning Objectives: Participants will gain an understanding of available pathways when struggling with financial downturns as an organization.
For nonprofits currently facing financial changes or those seeking to learn about their options in times of economic turbulence.
Presenters: Lori Moses, Senior Staff Attorney; Jonal Hendrickson, Staff Attorney; and Frances Tyler, Legal Fellow
