Launching a Social Enterprise: Legal Issues Associated with Initial Stage Social Enterprise
"Social enterprises" — organizations where revenue-generating activities are themselves the means to achieving a defined "social benefit" — are rapidly changing the worlds of business and philanthropy. While they share many traits with both nonprofit and for-profit forms, the social enterprise operates under a set of considerations particular to it. This presentation will cover available options of forming, funding, and protecting the "mission" of a social enterprise.
Learning Objectives: Participants will gain an understanding of the considerations and choices in initially forming, funding, and running a social enterprise.
For mission-based entrepreneurs (and those that support them) from both the nonprofit and for-profit worlds.
Presenter: Neil Stevenson, Senior Staff Attorney
