Clear and functional bylaws make it easier for the organization’s leadership to make significant operational, fiscal, and programmatic decisions that affect the health and future of the organization. This webinar will provide practical guidance for drafting legally compliant and functional bylaws for your nonprofit clients, regardless of their size or mission.
Learning Objectives: Participants will become better equipped to draft effective nonprofit corporate bylaws by receiving insights into industry best practices and legal requirements that apply to New York nonprofits.

Getting a new nonprofit organization off to the right start can mean the difference between success and failure, and the guidance of legal counsel during this time can make all the difference. This CLE webinar, designed for attorneys interested in working with New York nonprofits, will go step-by-step through the process of incorporating in New York State and applying for federal tax-exempt status. Attention will be given to the benefits and obligations of incorporation and tax-exempt status including reporting requirements, the role of board members, and the limitations on lobbying and political activities.
